Live Bait Debate
Let me first start by saying I have absolutely no problem with people fishing with live bait, but here's the question:
Is catching a trophy trout with live bait equal to catching a trophy trout on an artificial lure? Let the fun begin! |
throw whatever they are biting... i like to catch fish so ill throw whatever but i usually stick with artificial cause its easier to deal with

Live bait should not be allowed in tournaments, IMO. |

I could give a flip less, and I do plan on soaking some tomorrow night asterick |
This horse has been beaten to death a million times here!
Live shrimp or plastic and an 8 lb result... It's as good as stuffed on my wall! |

In my opinion fish with what you feel confidence in and legal.8lbs is 8lbs.I prefer artys myself and feel its more sporting catching them on artys than live bait.I like the challenge of working a bait and looking for the fish rather than soaking live bait and letting the fish find you.Not saying I wont fish with live bait. This is a very touchy subject.I agree live bait shouldnt be used in tournaments except if its for a charity. You will get more participants for a charity if you have live bait and that means more for the charity.Just my 2cents.

I'm not getting sucked into this one.
(had a big paragraph written but deleted it...) |
The same argument can be said for Deer hunting while sitting in front of a pile of corn.
Some do it.....some don't. |
Ummmmm new topic.
Who cares....??? If u catch the trout then u caught it... Live or arti... U still caught it. |
its not like everybody that fishes live bait catches big fish... so it still takes some skill to catch big fish either way.

Do they taste any different whether you catch them on artis or on live bait? Last time I checked, they taste the same no matter what you use to catch them.

IMO a fish caught on live bait is NOT a trophy! trophies are givin to people who compete is SPORTING events!! Soaking a natural bait is in no shape or form sportfishing
|
They never said they was sport fishing. They said they was meat fishing.

i believe the question was about TROPHY trout, and your the only one i know who eats trophy trout:p |
I don't catch trophy trout. I catch eatin trout...
|
I eat what I catch. I got enough trophies from junior high. It don't matter as long as it's in the boat. You come on my boat, fish what you want - I got two baitwells. I'll switch between plastic and live and go back and forth all day.
But I admit, after I catch an 8 lber on whatever I use, live or plastic, it'll be the first thing I throw for a loooong time! |
U gotta do what u gotta do sometimes to put fish in the boat. I dont like to use it. Heck, I cant even throw a cast net. Thats how seldom i use it. But if I cant pick them up on plastics I will fish live bait before i scratch. I think a big fish is a big fish, live or plastic.
|
in my opinion i wouldn't feel as accomplished cathcing an eight pound trout on live than i would on artificial.
