Jailbreak iphone 3gs

Does anyone have their iphone jailbroken...I upgraded to os4 and I don't think I can jailbreak yet on the 3gs...

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 10:24 AM

pretty sure there is an os4 jailbreak

hang on

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 10:26 AM

http://www.softsailor.com/how-to/301...agetool-2.html

this works for sure on a mac, not sure about windows

wtretrievers 07-27-2010 10:27 AM

Don't do it!!!!!!!!!!!!

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 10:27 AM

ummm

why not Wretrivers?

ive have jailbroken all of my iphones except the 4 because im waiting on a stable release

wtretrievers 07-27-2010 10:34 AM

We've already been through this........If it breaks, malfunctions or whatever (say the screen blacks out) & you can't "un" jailbreak it Apple will not touch it & will also log it into their system as being jail broke & will never work on it again whether you erased it or not. Thats alot of money to throw away. Do what you like. It's happened to me. My son jail broke mine & I didn't know what it was. Several hundred dollars later I completely understand now.

btw.......he'll never jail break another of mine or his!!!!!!!!!!!

I completely understand...but there has got to be a way to restore to the factory settings if you do it the right way...

If the phone malfunctions & you can't restore you're screwed....happened to me. My screen blacked out

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 10:43 AM

Yes. It's very easy to restore to factory settings. I brought mine into the apple store because of a headphone jack problem. While jailbroke.

The guy just plugged it up. Factory restored and gave me a new one

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 10:47 AM

Even if the screen blacks out. You connect it to your computer and hit restore.

I thought I bricked mine once. All I had to do was connect it to a computer.

1 click and 10 mins later. It worked fine

wtretrievers 07-27-2010 10:50 AM

mine broke & would not restore........W H A T P A R T O F T H A T D O N T Y O U U N D E R S T A N D ? ? ? You got lucky a salesperson who didn't give a ****.

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 10:55 AM

Alright man. I understand. Something didn't go right for you.

But to tell someone not to do it because you had a bad experience and makin it seem like every phone will mess up. Is a little unclalled for in my opinion.

Just out of curiousity. Did you consult someone with experience with jailbreaking and such when you had your problem?

southern151 07-27-2010 11:01 AM

So, who wants to win this arguement more? Lol

Mine seems to do plenty for me and it's not jailbroke. I have heard that warranties are gone if you do this.

SULPHITE 07-27-2010 11:02 AM

you need to know that this guide teaches you how to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS running on iOS 4.0. No other models are yet supported. Also, it only supports just old bootroms with basebands ranging from 05.11.07 to 04.26.08, preserving the version so you can unlock them later. Your iPhone must be jailbroken at least once before, with redsn0w, PwnageTool, Blackra1n or Sn0wbreeze and you must use a MAC
Not sure about bootroms and basebands...and it wasn't previously jailbroken and I already updated ios4 so I guess I've got to be patient and wait for another update to redsnow...

wtretrievers 07-27-2010 11:03 AM

Why do you have contradict or question anything anyone says?

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 11:11 AM

Lol. Easy wretrievers. You contradicted me.

I simply said that I've never had a problem. And that it is reversible in every situation I've been in (I've jailbroke 14 phones).

You are the one getting worked up.

Now. Let's be big boys.

Did you get someone to look at your phone after your screen blacked out? I've had two that I thought were ruined. After some finagling I was able to work it out.

Yeah.......I looked at it.......it was BROKE!

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 11:16 AM

Southern. Putting your phone in certain cases will ruin your so called warranty.
I say so called because it leaves much to be desired in a warranty plan.

For example. The proximity sensor on my 4. (which is suppose to make the phone screen turn off when it gets ear your face.)

It doesn't always work on mine.

Took it to apple they claim a software problem and that an update will come soon. Not covered by warranty even though there is an obvious manufacturer problem

wt I gotcha man...if i **** up my phone then its my fault and I'll take the financial risk. I like doing crap like this and assume the risk!

that's what I was curious about.

Sulphite your right.

when you jailbreak you assume the risk

back to the topic,

it is much easier to do on a mac, so if you know someone with a mac, it takes all of 8-9 minutes for a full jailbreak

i loved having mine jailbroken, opens it up to a whole new world.

plus you get all the app store apps for free.

that was nice

SULPHITE 07-27-2010 11:25 AM

i want a program through cydia where you can watch tv shows on your iphone...

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 11:26 AM

sulphite, check out the justin tv app in the app store until you can jailbreak

SULPHITE 07-27-2010 11:27 AM

don't know anyone with a mac so I have to wait until a windows version comes out and also a jailbreak that doesn't require the phone to be previously jailbroken...

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 11:27 AM

they also have a program called d-tunes

you can download any song straight to your phone

its like having limewire.

this is in cydia though

pretty cool

got it...it works okay...I watch the office and some others..just laggy and crashes often...

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 11:28 AM

it shouldnt take too long, the devteam (the people who do all the program writing for jailbreaks) are always working towards a better release

yeah, its how i watched the LSU regional games while we were on the road in New York.

but with everything, with more time, comes more improvement

SULPHITE 07-27-2010 11:29 AM

will you retain the apps you've already bought after jailbreaking?

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 11:32 AM

yea

you do

meaux fishing 07-27-2010 11:46 AM

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 11:54 AM

Many different things. Long list

tcglsu 07-27-2010 12:12 PM

I jailbroke mine iPhone 3G 4.0 firmware with redsnow

yak'em-n-stack'em 07-27-2010 01:30 PM

just jailbroke with using jailbreakme.com...worked like a charm...yak what the hell do I do now...give me some good app stuff!!

yak'em-n-stack'em 08-03-2010 07:52 AM

You need to download winterboard from Cydia. Then you can download themes and such. Also sb settings gives you access to a bunch of settings by sliding your finger across your status bar. I'm not on my computer. But later I will be and can give you some more info

SULPHITE 08-03-2010 08:37 AM

cool!

longsidelandry 08-03-2010 09:42 AM

So you have to jailBREAK your iphone and void the warranty in order to be able to watch tv and download free apps on it? Wow, I'm glad I don't have one. Just about everyone I know that has had an iphone has had issues, I don't understand why.....o yea, it's made by Apple lol. Everything you guys are talking about doing after jailBREAKING your phones can be done on my Evo without having to jailBREAK anything.

yak'em-n-stack'em 08-03-2010 10:02 AM

Again. It is reversible. So it does not void anything

yak'em-n-stack'em 08-11-2010 02:14 PM

Not on the 4 but on my 3G I would use pdanet all the time
