In no particular order:

The Poe's - Big Lake Guide Service
The Stansels - Hackberry Rod & Gun
Rue - Calcasieu Charters
Sam Bordelon - Contraband Charters

#4 would be my choice, great fisherman and even better dude. If you go with the Poe's request Barry Reed.
Josh Johnson with J&J Fishing charters is also a great choice.

Haven't fished with him, but Josh Johnson has a heck of a reputation on the lake. He's with Triple J Charters.

Met him a year or so ago at that store in Grand Lake.......very nice guy......

mako1 06-08-2010 07:52 PM

Where is hopedale? It's going to be expensive since it's just 2 of us so I want us to have a good trip. He only comes down once a year to do this.

mako1 06-08-2010 08:03 PM

Thanks for all the suggestions. We both love to fish so I don't want to feel like I'm on a time limit out there and the guide to short us any effort.

Well then you better tell him that. I was just at a family reunion with him this weekend and he said he is doing 3 to 4 trips a week.

Make sure you tell him that, most of the guides try to catch early limits and head in, as long as your up front on what you'd like they will accomodate you. If your just looking for numbers most of them are back in by at least noon, most times by 11am. If you are looking for better than average trout tell him that or you will be catching schoolies all morning which is nothing wrong with that if your into that.
