Cajun Outdoors - Fishin' Mission
 

We're working on a new monthly feature.

Here's the deal. We're going to compile a list of formidable fishing accomplishments. Readers/Viewers of the site can suggests others. Then readers can contact us and "Accept The Mission". Once accepted we'll send a photographer/outdoor writer out on the trip with you. Basically you have one shot to close the deal and accomplish "The Fishin' Mission". It will be a monthly feature detailing the success or failures of the trip. If successful the Fishermen will get his choice of a bounty of prizes each worth several hundred bucks. The gear is still be compiled, poles, reels, gift certs, gps, etc.

I need you fishermen to suggests some challenges. It needs to be a hard enough feat that it won't happen everytime, but easy enough so that we have a pretty decent success rate. Here is what we're thinking so far, please post other recommendations.

Catch a 5lb bass

Limit out on bass in the Atchafalaya Basin

Catch 10 sac au lait over a pound

Catch a 5 lb speckled trout

Catch a red, speck and flounder in the same day.

Catch a Goujon/Flathead on rod & reel

Catch a 10 lb catfish on rod & reel

Catch a tripletail

Basically we want things that are reasonably possible on a good trip. But the fisherman gets one shot to do it. Once a mission is accomplished it'll be scratched off the list. So what are you guys input on some additions to the list or if some of the weights numbers need to be revised?

catch a limit of yellowfin tuna

hook and fight a blue marlin for twenty minutes and maybe get lucky and get to catch and release the beast.

catch a swordfish

catch a limit of redfish on topwater

Catching a limit of anything but the reda!! is hard for me im gonna stay out of this one

When you wanna see a 10 lb catfish being caught?

whenever all this oil goes away and we can go offshore lets line something up for "The fishin mission"

I dont need to go offshore to catcha big catfish

I think if it's more than one person then both participants have to complete the task at hand.

Not towards this task, anything on the west side will probably be "Fool" tagging along. So I'm sure he'll have his rod n reel. Anything else will probably be me, and unless they're jumping in the boat I won't be fishing.

That's what I'm talkin' bout. But can you do it when the pressure is on?

I'm up for the challenge and i think thats a good challenge especially with all the small fish in there right now. I think I'd have better luck with the 10 sac over a pound. I'm more game for that and I'll do it in the basin too if thats what you want.

And I agree with each person catching the limit.

Prizes thus far - Yeti Ice chest, CVA muzzleloader, Custom Saints Hard Hat Light, Custom Fishing Rod, $100 Academy GC, Costa Del Mar glasses, more to come. After we get all the prizes in order we'll match the higher priced ones to the hardest feats.

Anybody want to tackle one this weekend to make the June issue?

Ohhhhhh my favorite, limit of Teals in the am, specks in the afternoon. I smoked the specks on the beach last year, then shot a bunch of doves that same afternoon.

Can I be eligable for the limit of reds on topwater?????? I had my topwater limit in 30 minutes on last friday!! and today had 4...going tomorrow..
