Bl 5/19/10

Just talked to my brother who was on the lake today and he said the water wasn't too pretty at all. They didn't catch a one fish. They tried from turners, long point, to west cove. He said mullet and small baitfish were everywhere. I was planning on going tomorrow but now i don't know. The good news is that was only their 3-4th trip to the lake ever so maybe the weren't fishing right. But does anyone have some pointers for me if i go tomorrow?? Anything would help guys

thats what i was thinking! I don't know man, i think they just messed up. What area you fished again?

LaAngler 05-19-2010 12:16 PM

this time of year the stiff breeze mixed with the tides can rip the mud into the water very fast.

Click the link I posted.

Montauk17 05-19-2010 01:29 PM

Yes the pass is closed. Go to big lake dont waste your time in v bay right now.

Opinions_Vary 05-19-2010 01:36 PM

I caught 1 3.5lb trout in the cove on Thurs in 25 mph winds. They are there you just have to get the right conditions. Dry reef also usually has some fish this time of year.

I agree that there is trout in the bay. You just have a more consistant bite on the outside reefs,or big lake. :smokin:

Armand16 05-19-2010 01:43 PM

are they saying it is closed to fish or to keep fish? IMO you should be able to catch and release

Closed to fishing,im sure they will be out there writing tickets.

Dink 05-19-2010 01:56 PM

You can run boat thru it to get to the rigs, just can't fish where the closure is

I'll agree to that..

One question. Since it says that the gulf side of the pass is closed can we still travel through the closed area and what would they do to you if you were caught fishing the area? Can they even do you anything

what area if you don't mind me asking?

Opinions_Vary 05-19-2010 03:28 PM

It looks like it is just state waters that they closed out of S. Marsh Island, I think you can still fish tiger shoals, if so that would be fantastic.

I spoke to a friend that has a camp in Venice, he said he was told he could not launch from a public landing in Venice. He asked if he could launch from a private launch and he was told by the La WL&F it wouldn't be advisable to do so. He asked if he would get a ticket for doing so and was told probley so. No answer was definative, but it sure sounded like they didn't want any other boats out there. He dicided to do some work around the camp instead of taking the risk. That was this past weekend.
