We are taking 6 kids hunting saturday for our the Delta Waterfowl youth hunt drawing at our banquet. Sunday we are taking 3 kids out one of wich is from "Make a wish". Hunts and lodging made possible by Laccasane Lodge.
|
My Youth hunt cancelled for the morning. Guy called earlier, he couldnt get the kids from their mom. Damn shame too, If i didnt see 2 thousand ducks go down yesterday I aint saw a one. I was watching em make a tornado into one field it took em almost 10 minutes before they all landed.

Never seen that many birds before season. Greys pintail teal and specs

My traditions before opening has started. Pulled out the waders; re-cleaned the gun; filled the shell box; checked out the calls; bug spray and charged up the spot light.
Took out 4 packs of doves (60) for the Sat night supper of pot roasted doves and all the fixins'. Will go get a 1/2gallon of Crown, beer and a coupla bottles of vino. Can't wait for early Friday morn to open up the camp, drop boats in the water, load up the dekes and piroques then go in the marsh and set them out. Freshen up the blinds we brushed last weekend. Mid afternoon Friday back to camp and light up the pit for chicken and rib dinner. Stay up late playing bourre', up at 4:00am for many cups of coffee, grab a biscuit with fig preserves then head on out. Get to share this with my son and life long friends. Nothing like it. Hope all of you can make great memories this weekend. oh and hopefully kill a few ducks! |
Great traditions are hard to beat! Sounds like y'all will be doing things right. Hopefully I'll hunt with Chris a few more times this yr. I'm always around that area during hunting season

Starting to think that delayed teal migration might not be such a bad thing we covered up with em right now.

She actually helped me build the blind this weekend. At first she was nervous about getting in the canoe, after a couple trips of bringing lumber she was hopping in and standing up taking pics like shes been doing it her whole life. I gotta remind myself how lucky I am sometimes.

New blind. Hopefully they like this pond this season as much as they did last..
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...ps6183632b.jpg After.. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25...ps73b07d75.jpg Gonna touch it up Friday. Just couldn't help but put a roof on it. Less than 100$ |
We went to our blind in sweetlake on sunday to do blind prep. Already got a large body down there. And as far as a could tell, I didnt see a snow in the bunch, all specks.

Went Saturday and got the blind cleaned up and got the decoys all taken out and loaded up ready to go. Buffaloed ponds yesterday morning and cut more brush yesterday afternoon. Had about 50 teal sitting in the pond when I got there yesterday. Gonna finish cutting brush this afternoon and go get the blind brushed then stay out till Friday afternoon late to go ad out out decoys. Then I have to try and make myself go to sleep Friday night, that's usually the hard part.
