Speaking from experience if you have all your safety equipment and documentation as a rec fisherman the coast guard will not too much mess with you over fish. That being said the state vs the Feds on snapper might have that changed right now with the uscg out of grand isle and Venice

What I'm talking about is the rules. It's state law. The federal government has no clue when it comes to fisheries management |

I also realize that is true... They are just doing what they are told to do. Just is pretty ridiculous that Crabtree is so butt hurt he had to call in some favors and get the coast guard involved when there are more important things they could be doing. |
