It's not a one stop solution for sure hell it's not a solution at all because its not the problem!! They will realize that the problem still exists, and over time they will take more guns away

You can't base off of past events even as recently as ten years ago .. The world has changed completely, politicians are more corrupt and selfish, and gov't seems to think they should control every aspect of our lives ... Give them an inch now they take a mile later

Well the government is our elected officials, both Democrats and Republicans elected by we the people, maybe we should start by putting a ban on the number of years our Senators and Congressmen can serve in office, say two terms like the President, that would be a start. I would vote for that, I bet they wouldn't.

Wag 12-23-2012 02:08 PM

Maybe we should ban the Congress, Senate, and President from having a different insurance coverage than what we have to take......... what's good for us should be good for them, just saying .....

Msucowpoke51 12-23-2012 02:09 PM

Here's a thought, I know it will never happen but just a thought. Why not encourage the select people who pass the most strict of background checks, people who have been handling guns for years and have been safe and used them for their intended purposes. Why not encourage these people to buy and carry to help protect whoever may be around them in an emergency ... Give these people special rights to carry in places others cannot so there may be more to protect when something happens

"W" 12-23-2012 02:10 PM

Bullets are on back order up to 3 weeks due to high volume of sales............

"W" 12-23-2012 02:13 PM

BTW non of the guns used in the school killings were legal and all were registered to a person with clean background check

Not his moms fault her son is a complete idiot and took his selfish life out on other

the same could of happened if someone broke into her house and stole the guns

Wag are you lessoning to yourself?

A ban on any gun no matter size or caliber, magazine, ammo etc goes against the 2nd amendment and the right to bear arms.

With ya on this stance. Go beyond insurance and include pensions, perks, etc. when they retire or serve just one term.

Always happens....guns and ammo sales go up after a violent crime, and especially when they start talking about a ban.

A ban on the so called "assault weapons" is no way going to effect your right to keep and bear arms. Yes, it might limit what you can buy, but it does not effect your right to keep and to continue to buy guns.

I don't like it, but I don't have a problem with it either. If it saves one life, it would be worth it.

Merry Christmas everyone, and have a Happy New Year!

Guns don't get registered when bought. Did you register your AR's you just ordered?

In Louisiana, I believe we voted on an amendment 2, saying that no new law can change gun rights! Basically means nothing can be banned or taken away or removed and stay as it is. My uncle works for mapul, he says he has been "talking" with lawyers about keeping an awb out of the government. I don't think the government will ban "assault weapons", but what I think they will ban is 30 rd mags.

flounder_smacker 12-23-2012 09:18 PM

everytime ive purchased a gun the paperwork i fill out has all my information and the serial number of that gun. not sure what they do with that info i always thought they had to file it with some branch of government.

Thank you "Wag" & Speck Chaser. Any decent person with some degree of reason and common sense can see that this gun ban needs to be passed and it needs to happen now. As a former Marine, I can see no reason why any civilian should ever be able to walk up to the gun section at Wal-mart/Academy and buy an AR-15 or any assault style rifle. That is just ridiculous. Assault rifles should only be used by military personnel and law enforcement. You do not need an AR-15 to defend your house. I've been in close-quarters combat first hand and the shotgun is actually the 2nd weapon of choice for Marines in CQC (m4 being the 1st choice of course). So I assure you that you can defend your house from a lowly robber trying to steal something from you. Probably not worth killing someone over a robbery in the first place. And if you are still too paranoid, you can still own a pistol. Although I wouldn't recommend having a pistol in the house if you have kids, they're just too easy to be handling and accidentally hurt or kill someone. Lastly, yes I am a strong Conservative and I have been hunting and fishing since I was 5 years old. So please don't come back at me like I am some kind of "hippie/liberal." I am just disgusted at the fact that anyone thinks that they need an assault rifle and that America is going to go to fall apart if we ban the purchase of assault rifles. And let me just answer this question right now before someone asks, yes of course we all realize that this won't take all the assault weapons off the streets (do you think that we are stupid?). But if we stop the new purchase now, maybe a couple hundred years from now there will be very few still left in circulation.

whats the difference between me using my .308 ar with a 5 round clip vs a semi auto conventional rifle with a 5 round clip?

being a former marine you think you would know the difference between a assault weapon and a assault rifle. with that last sentence, you being new to this forum and your first post about gun bans im willing to bet you are just another lousy liberal.
