I agree. We only get to see or read what they want us to. Based on what I know I know that I would have used my weapon if it was me. I don't know everything though.

I feel bad for the people that are having businesses destroyed. I also don't understand why the owners aren't protecting their business. That happens around my neck of the woods and there would be 4x4s parked bumber to bumber and everyone would be locked and loaded. You want to protest go ahead and do it. I think paying LE more and not allowing anyone under 30 to be a cop may help. Pay more because a person at 30 has more bills (as a general rule). At 30+ you have lived some and have also had a job hopefully. You know good people have bad days. By 30 you have already wanted to pull your boss' head off. Prolly more than once. You also know more about how to talk to people and help deescalate a situation. I know I made worse desicions in my 20s than I do in my 30s. They put out a 21 year from the academy and he has a badge and a gun. He doesn't even know what life is yet. He's just a kid that thinks he looks all pumped because of his bullet proof vest.
In my experience with LE the best ones have always been with the 30+ year old guys. They know lifes a beech and some days just arent good.

This would be ideal but the fact is that our tax dollars pay police salaries. In many small towns the cops barely make more than minimum wage. Low wages mean your talent pool will be pretty shallow.

I know there are some areas where the police are paid well, but I would bet the taxes are also higher there.

It would be interesting to see a study comparing police salary with police complaints.

There are so many variables in this situation. Nobody will ever agree completely. Hell sometimes I don't agree with myself.lol. I believe that many steps need to be taken to end the strong armed policing of American citizens but also believe an officer should defend himself against a threat. If they were held accountable by the same laws as civilians I think a lot would change. Unfortunatly cops aren't bound by the same laws as civilians.
I also believe that people should have enough self pride to not act like animals. I don't care what color you are. Some of the best people I know are black and some of the worst I know are white. I also know cases that are just the reverse. Self pride in life is going away.
Im not saying a person should be overly pridefull and an arrogant azz. One should have balance.

Valid point. On the gun issue. I do however belive that no one should be a cop at less than age 30 and have displayed themselves as well rounded and level headed citizens from the age of 18 to 29. Im not saying its perfect and will fix everything. Thats just my take on it.
