I just dealt with this last week on my boat I bought OUT OF STATE!!!! Not sure how I can pay a LA sales tax when the purchase wasn't even made here.... but oh well. Anyway, the purpose of my post was to tell y'all that LDWF told me it only applies to boats over $2500...... so make your bill of sale for $2k and you are good to go.... hope that helps.

Update on my case, the previous post about the sales tax being waved under $2500 is true. I didn't have to pay any tax on my rig today!
