Exactly! And before anybody claims we don't have any sound science or biological proof to back up our claims, just know that we don't give a $hit about science. We just care about protecting big fish.

I dont know anyone who goes fishing.... that wouldnt prefer to catch bigger fish.... your post doesnt make much sense to me...

The genetics are the same when a fish is 10lb as they are when the fish is 1lb

When that same fish is 1lb and 10lb yes... but the genetics of each fish is totally different... just like anything else

I got a homemade hook I rigged up that is almost 100% on snagging big ones off the beds.

Might as well put the rods up. All you need is a bow fishing rig. Maybe a nice gaff with an extension perhaps? Hell, make it a harpoon. Better yet, just rig you something where you can shock the fish and troll up to her, scoop her right up and throw her on ice.

I understand, but my point is that by the time that fish is 8-12lbs it has done more than it's share of putting good genetics back into the pool.

But why kill it? I just dont understand some ppls thinking... If your gonna keep a big one to mount as your personal best then thats find. I understand that. But alot of ppl will kill every single fish they catch no matter the size. Just make no sense to me.

So its better to kill the fish and throw the meat away to hang it on the wall, but not okay to kill it and feed the family fresh bass for supper?

Can't tell u how many 48qts I filled up at tourney weigh ins. Summer time is best when the water warns up. They struggle to stay alive in the livewell all day and when they release em they can't swim well. They usually head for the nearest dock seeking shade. That's where I'll get with a net. Depending on size sometimes I'll fill up a 100 qt.

Apparently you didnt read what I posted.... Im not talking about the guy keeping one to mount once a year... You know damn good and well what im talking about

If i wanted to mount one i'd keep one that big, otherwise i wouldn't. Either way, a legal fish is a legal fish, and no matter what people keep every year, year in and year out lacassine is full of big ones.

A fish is a fish and coonasses like to eat. I have no problem with it.

I dont keep bass at all... but if i did... i wouldnt keep anything over 4lbs... There plenty 1-3lb fish to keep if you NEED to eat.

This isn't direct to you since you don't keep bass but....
How do all the people that say not to keep big fish, but keep small ones, know that some of those 1-3 lb fish aren't on their way to being a trophy? Do they have some sort of DNA test kit on their boat? So you know if a bass will always just be a dink! And then you can eat it.

And again, young bass also spawn. So
