That would be me. Mr. Spicer used to vet the carcasses of fish when I was guiding and told us not to save the redfish for him. the crabs traps with redfish were not as full as those without.

During slow time of yr get your boat checked and regular maintained.
Plugs, water pump, lower unit oil, and so on.

SGib 02-05-2014 10:45 AM

Make sure the plugs are in your boat and tight before you back it in.... So i hear

If you have your dog trained by a "pro" or use a program other than waterdog you are a ribbon dog yuppy.

If your dog doesn't pick up multiple birds on the same trip then he's not official.

If you buy a dog already trained then he is automatically not good and you are "stupid" for not training your own dog using the waterdog system.

If you own a yeti you are again said yuppy.

Everyone's tax dollars are sent to manage shrimping inside the weirs so they can catch shrimp regardless of if it is open or not.

Great thing to do. My pops has a one year old maxus with a permanent full because of this.

Soak it with a good penetrating oil and keep soaking it and it will come out. Get a good choke wrench and it will come out. Also try some heat and the barrel will expand a bit to let the choke loose. Once it's out, use a good choke tube grease and it will never cease again.

Thanks for the tip. I know he said he soaked it for a day or so in oil, not sure what kind. And the only choke wrench I know him to have is a quarter lol.

Never flip a quarter to see who has to pick up on the boat trailer when it's been backed off the end of a launch. Especially at Lake Martin when the water is 45 degrees...

Run the winch strap and/or rope under the last crossmember of the trailer then hook it the bow of your boat. Reverse the boat and the trailer should come up. Let someone else pull the truck up while you are lifting the trailer.

Lock that quarter in some vise grips for extra leverage. I keep anti sieze on the threads of all my tubes. Not had an issue yet.

Blue Brillo pad will take the rust off of most metal (gun barrels, knives, etc...) without damaging the metal. Never tried it on a blued barrel though.

A copper penny will also remove rust from bluing w/o damaging the bluing.

And that my friends is why I dont gamble. You can loose.
45 degree water can cause some crawfishing in certain areas.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

When gater hunting bring a ball peen hammer. They will and do come alive in the boat!!!

Ragin_Cajun 02-06-2014 09:50 AM

Hook the trailer with your anchor and pull away. Nobody gets wet!

PotLikinisAhabbit 02-06-2014 10:33 AM

If you have a leak in one of your boots you can use a trash bag over that foot to get you through the hunt. It will keep your leg/foot dry but you will still be pretty cold.

C-Bass2mouth 02-06-2014 05:33 PM

Felt or burlap used as a base layer wrapped around your blind (not a pit blind obviously) will help out with the wind chill.

tboy 02-07-2014 09:20 AM

You can make any pair of boots or waders "ankle tights" with an old tire tube. Cut about a 2 inch wide strip out of the tube. Slip the whole thing over your foot and around your ankle, criss-cross it once then loop the remaining tube over your foot again.
