I'm well aware of your point, but, wasn't it pretty much agreed upon in that other thread that the laws ain't gonna be changed?

Where else in Louisiana waters can you catch "3's" at the rate you can in Lake Calcasieu?

Top Dawg 06-02-2012 06:27 PM

Anywhere?

This thread that you are posting in is for the CCA Trout Shootout results and to give congratulations to the winners.

If you want to continue to debate the 15 vs 25 trout limit, take it to this thread.

Turned out to be a beautiful day and good turnout. Had around 300 adults sign up and lots of kids fishing with them. Enjoyed meeting ckinchen there and several other saltycajuns. Raymond did a stand up job and his son Hunter was a huge help- great to see a young man that committed and helpful- thanks again Hunter!!! Fishing was slow for most but saw several come in with numbers and saw one local guide with a nice mess and released a 7.5# trout on 3rd cast and caught another over 8.5# that was measured, weighed and released. He had pics to prove it- beautiful fish. So I guess there really are some nice trout still out there. Saw some nice flounder weighed also for the STAR- one was almost 6#. Thanks again guys for a good time

I think the shootout is great. I think it was great today. And congrats to everyone that got to fish it and placed.

Thanks for the participation Louisiana!!!!! Special thanks to Jude and Paul for carting Hayden around this morning to fish. With my job as president, I cannot fish the tournament so Jude and Paul took my youngest with them. He has not slowed down yet but soon he will. This tournament is about and for the youngsters not the adults. It's primary goal is to groom future conservationists not Internet tuff guys. What kind of world would it be if everyone could take their kids fishing and be compelty happy catching 1 limit of trout?? I am out, at swashbuckler game with Hayden and need to get back to him because he is the reel deal!

Bluechip 06-02-2012 07:56 PM

Results will be up soon but I can tell everyone that of the 77 trout weighed, 51 were released giving us a 66% survival rate.

That's assuming that all fished released did in fact survive.

I would be willing to bet most survive due to the fact that the Aquarium of the Americas holds them after tagging and only releases strong fish. Every fish I saw them release swam off like a bat outta hell. Christa can pretty much tell us if a fish is going to make it right after she gets it in her hands.

calcutta37 06-04-2012 11:11 AM

Thanks Mr. Little

Tomball Tiger 06-04-2012 11:43 AM

That's an impressive survival rate. Congrat's to Mr. Vaughn on his Big Trout Winner!

thats awesome!! Were they in a tank or something setup around the weigh station?

cduhon 06-04-2012 12:12 PM

Yes, calcasieu point gives them access to a live bait storage tank and they use it for bringing the fish back to health. They measure and tag the fish and even vent them if needed. They fill their stomach with a special energy mixture and hold them til healthy. They do an awesome job with the fish and is great to see.

All Miller Lite, Bud Lite, and Coors Lite ended up as dead soldiers and 1/2 a liter of Makers Mark made it out alive.
