Another thread about to go south and to the gill net

Top Dawg 01-03-2012 04:17 PM

Lol. We're not telling "everyone" how dumb they are. Don't remember calling anyone dumb.

I really was hoping you or your cousin would be on the fuge and not coming over here telling everyone on here how dumb we are and how good y'all are. And thanks for the grammar lesson, coming from the guy who always puts dem and dis and all dat udda bull**** you type. I'm done replying to either of you, it's impossible to reason with you

Damn, I thought we told you what you wanted to hear. What we like and what is a challenge. Why does me thinking specks and mallards are easy to kill get you all upset? I never said anyone was dumb and never said I was good. Did someone give you a wedgey at skewl today?

Spunt Drag 01-03-2012 04:27 PM

I would like to hear everyone's hunting experiences, either in Louisiana, or an out of state hunt. Like the EChicken talkin about the elk. I've always wanted to go pheasant hunting, any good stories?

specktator 01-03-2012 04:29 PM

OK children, ya'll are fixing to mess up a perfectly good thread.

Me and muh fat buddy are planning an elk hunt. Shootin for next couple of years before I get too old. Will be a do it yourself hunt like we always do.

Spunt Drag 01-03-2012 04:45 PM

Which fat buddy? You got lots of em

Top Dawg 01-03-2012 04:53 PM

Been to Nebraska and SoDak for pheasants. Watching those dogs work and that big rooster jumpin up in your face is something to experience. Been to Wyoming mule deer hunting and would do that again in a heartbeat. You are very little in those mountains. Next adventure I would like is definitely elk or try my luck at a merriams turkey and one day finish up the slam with an ocseola. But a public land elk hunt needs to happen.

We are looking at Colorado. You can still get tags over the counter. I would prolly go for a cow tag. I have no room for them horns and the reason I want to go is because I just always wanted to hunt out west. Whether it be mule deer, elk, or speed goat. Just looking for the challenge of the mountains. No looking for giant horns. Just an adventure and some meat. May do it with my bow.

Spunt Drag 01-03-2012 05:12 PM

I hate big game hunting, because I suck at it. Wingshooting gets my juices flowing, but I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to go Elk hunting, haven't been out west since I was a kid, beautiful country. I still need to jerk a Yellowfin's lip too.

You just need some patience and a good teacher.

Top Dawg 01-03-2012 05:31 PM

I don't care for sittin in a stand but I do like walkin around a mountain glassin and stayin on the move.

I would like that a lot more than sitting in a stand staring at the piney woods, and the highlight of the morning is a fox squirrel. But I really don't wanna buy a new rifle, is my .270 good enough?

Yes, it is good enough. But you need to practice and make your shot count and be ready to pump more than one in it.

Top Dawg 01-03-2012 05:59 PM

Plenty big enough

Lake Chuck Duck 01-03-2012 07:36 PM

My favorite is the elusive specklebelly. I have hunted pheasant before in Kansas and that was amazing spent a week hunting all day everyday. Just drive down the road, pick a nice looking field, and walk across it. Its a real rush when they dont jump until you step on them. I killed my first deer not long ago and I still dont see the excitement. yeah it was exciting when i killed but the moments before and after the kill all sucked its nothing but a pain in the arse and work. Killed my first, dont care to kill another.

Micah 01-03-2012 08:51 PM

Turkeys are dumb

Montauk17 01-03-2012 08:54 PM

Bow hunting whitetail and specklebellys are my favorite. Hard to beat the rush of the build up to waiting for that perfect shot with a bow and arrow! Takes some serious dedication,I saw 14 deer this year while bow hunting but none were in range. Hope I get to stick one before the season ends. Gotta love the sound too....twwaaaaaaack!

eman 01-03-2012 10:54 PM

The ultimate animal. the only one that shoots back.

As far as favorite thing to hunt.....Turkey---- and Deer are a close second for me.

If you would like to experience hearing a big Tom sound off at daylight and shake the leaves, I could probably do that for you. It would have to be on public land sometime in mid March.

If you need some pointer on how to kill a good Longbeard, I would be glad to help you get that done. IMO....most of the fun of hunting Turkey is in the scouting and the "chase" before the kill. I will leave my gun at home....I just love getting on the Turkey, I don't have to kill one.

Where is your lease?

Is Deer season over.....no..... then why are we talking Turkey hunting???????

Coyotes. Never even hunted em before. But they are next on the death list. They have been going ruthless on the rabits behind the house. Other night, had a rabbit in pasture, sat and watched him, and next thing I know, 2 yotes come put of the woodline and Chase him.. next morning me and buddy went and made a quick woodduck hunt before school back there, while waiting for sunrise the yotes were giving a rabbit hell. Thing was squealing and hollerin like crazy.

Right now it is hit or miss. Klondike blind is pretty slow right now and Welsh was good yesterday, but slow today.

yigodiver 01-08-2012 04:45 PM

Sandhill Cranes and Pheasant, each are a blast!!!
