try chantix or zyban......i quit using zyban but i hear chantix is better...smoked for 24 yrs....been 4 yrs since i quit...i cant believe i was so damn stupid to smoke all those years....i think the most important thing about quiting is you have to WANT to quit...if your halfassed about it, it will never work..

Both my parents smoked 2 packs a day, I got plenty of second hand smoke. Never started myself, pretty addicted to cokes though. That's my Lent penance, no cokes, no sugar, exercise more - Eat More Fish. Loose 10 pounds in 40 days. That should do it.

Giving up what I usually do:

beer
fast food
sweets

That will help me lose the holiday weight hopefully!

I'm on board. One more day and Fat Tuesday. After that, more fishing (good weather), and eating more fish, and working out = weight loss, better overall mental and physical health. I'm ready!

Giving up bad fast food and soda which will be pretty difficult since my job requires me to be on the road alot.

same nere smoked cowboy killers from the age of 14.
Smoked till i was 35, put the dam things down and walked away from them. Never looked back.
2 years latter picked up cope. 14 yrs later still dipping .It's much harder to quit than cigs were.

I smoked only a little bit in high school and College. Dipped and chewed tobacco since I was a teen. Played baseball and was always in the outdoors so i wasa exposed to it.
Stopped smoking the cigs in 1992 and hardly have had one since. Maybe a cigar every now & then also.
Stopped the chewing tobacco and snuff "cold turkey" about the time I got married in 02. I was coaching High School baseball and football and man it was hard to quit when I had all my coaching colleagues still doing it in front of me. I haven't had it since then, however.

I'm trying to lose some weight and will probably give up on the snacks and fast food as much as possible for Lent. Already lost 9 pounds in 3 weeks. I'll try to keep it up!!

Good luck to all you others during the lenten season.

March 1 tomorrow - down 6 lbs and have only had one glass of wine and one beer in a weak moment. Have stayed away from bread, taters, rice, and pasta. Feelin' good. Need to catch more fish to eat more fish....

Good luck to all. Any Progress Reports?
