Like the Kid I'm really curious about how the slight offset affects the performance. Please elaborate. Hole shot? Top end? Turning? Planing?

Thanks

Motor offset

With out going into detail. I called bs the first time I heard it, since have done it on two different ribbed bottom boats with 23hp sd's. It offsets for tiller tourque and helps performance. Basically gets the motor offset of the center rib. Secondly, I would never own another ribbed boat with a surface drive, both times was in a hurry to put a rig together after picking up a lease late.

Just an update. I didn't buy the surface drive because it was a tall transom and both of my boats are short transom.

I bought a 23 hp Go Devil long tail and put it on my 1546 XPress. We went out to the new lease yesterday and I was really impressed by the performance. Although I didn't have a gps, I would say with 2 guys we got speeds over 20 mph. Another thing that impressed me was the quietness of the Briggs V-twin.

Thanks for all of the help and advice.

Nothing wrong with that set up at all. It should do what you need it to do.
