Sept 24 - The Food Stamp Act becomes law
Oct 20 - Three members of the band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, die in a plane crash
Dec 13 - All members of the University of Evansville basketball team die in a plane crash
Dec 27 - Jeremy "W" Waltrip is born somewhere in the marshes of SW Louisiana
