My cousin just changed his. I think he only had one break on him. Pain in the azz. Do you know what year they quit using those plugs? Or do all the 5.4s have those plugs?

I have one. MPG at 60-65 is incredible, but it does go down the faster you go and towing MPG is not that great. Very nice ride though and overall I love it. Not one single problem since new.

2010 was the last year of the 5.4 with those plugs. Then they started with the 3.5 ecoboost 3.7 5.0 .and6.2

I've broke a few and had some with no issue. The aftermarket plugs dont have crimped on thread rings so they solved that problem. Dont see why ford thought the spark plug needed to be re-engineered. It had been working perfectly before they F'd with it. Its not just a ford issue though. It seems that no matter the brand name there is an engineer wanting to design some dumb sheet stuff. I see it everyday and im like "what the F were they thinking when they did this?"

I feel your pain and know it first hand as I'm an autobody tech/mech. If you think domestic engineers come up with some crap, you should try your luck with some german engineering that I face on a weekly basis.:headknocker:

2012 F-150 Lariat 5.0- avg 15.4 mpg- wanted to buy a ecoboost- went with the tried and true 5.0. 43K miles. Runs awesome-keep my foot to th efloor daily- only way to drive-......does not pull my 24 pure bay near like my duramax, but not a good comparison.

Not really if you run some lucas fuel injecter cleaner in a few tanks of fuel before you decide to change them. It loosens up the carbon around the plugs before you try to remove them.
Look on youtube there are some other procedures you might want to look in to. Fyi

It is actually the XLT but it is pretty much loaded with crap like the Lariat except for leather seats and the heated/ac seats.

i have the regular Ford 150 XLT 4x4 and it get 20mph on hwy and 18mph in town

4X4 Eco boost 30K miles. Pulls everything including a 14,500 pound 38ft fifth wheel toy hauler. It makes 21-22 hwy and 15 town. But the mileage goes down if you drive it hard. I make 8-9 towing heavy loads. 11mpg towing my 25ft boat. Nice truck and rides like a car.

Have a 2013 F-150, 4x4, eco-boost, and I love it. The torque curve is unreal compared to the 5.0, love the space, the ride, the luxery, I love everything about the truck.

FYI: I average 17 mpg @ 75 mph, 20 mpg @ 60 mph, 14 mpg pulling a 18' bass boat, 10 mpg pulling 24' Kenner.

The 5.0 they are using now isn't the same as the one of yesteryear, it's actually newer than the ecoboost engines. The ecoboosts were being used in other platforms before the 5.0 coyote engine was introduced.

To hell with that bro. We work on a few of them that belong to good customers and I hate every minute of it. If someone has a nazi car and they arent a regular customer we send them to the shop in town that specialises in them.
