Yes, both LC and laff have sent teams to the series. But there is still not very much league played, the minimum it takes to qualify. Rest of the time play USSSA. In LC Anyway...

Thanks guys. I haven't been on here much. This last weeks been crazy. Very special week for those kids. They got to experience a life experience most will never reach. They finished to allstar run 26-0. The completion was tough at the World Series. Most team had some powerful pitching and could really hit well. The city of laural has a incredible park and the community support wasfirst class. I wish dixie youth got the coverage that little league does. In the south dixie is far bigger than LL. but nationally and over seas makes them have the coverage they get. I love watching it and this year will watch it know our boys could beat most of those teams.
The kids do play USSSA tournoment ball as well. LL kids do as well. Playing just league ball is not enough. Now days if you want to make allstars you almost have to play travel ball. This year it just worked out that 10 of 12 kids on the team played together in both. The 2 other came from a different team.
I love travel ball but the experience thru Dixie is different as in you lose it's season over. Usssa you lose you come back next weekend.

It think the record for the year combined is around 55-6.

That's awesome! Congrats to those boys and the parents, very tuff and both. All the missed fishing and hunting trips makes those championships even sweeter.

That's corrrect, although last year I only had to come out of my pocket with $150 to start and we did fundraising. This year I'll have to pay.

Little league is a form of Rec ball correct?
USSA is a pay to play gig. Private teams etc.

Our local league is sanctioned through USSSA

The recent team was from Bossier City

Are all the kids flat billing these days? Nobody rolls down the corners anymore to keep the sun out? I guess I'm getting old

swamp snorkler 08-12-2013 03:05 PM

Reggoh mine is 50/50 on the flat a few he does and few he don't.

Yeah he's playing 9U. Been playing Travel ball since he was 6

I hate the flat bills too.

swamp snorkler 08-13-2013 01:09 PM

Mine played 2 years t-ball, 2 years coach pitch t ball, and 1 year of coach pitch with the local rec league. He made All-Stars at 6 and 7 and played travel only at 8. He tried out for LBA Naturals this past weekend and we still haven't heard from them, (no one else who has tried has heard anything either). He also got invited to go tryout for another team this Saturday. Problem is he had a tryout lined up with a 10U team, he would be playing up with the 10Us. So I don't know what the hell we going to do.

swt70611 08-13-2013 01:22 PM

I'd Skip 9u and go to 10. he'll learn more playing up and not playing 9u. Usssa should play 9u as closed bases. hard to teach. pitchers, catchers and how to protect from leads/steals all in the same year. heck they can't throw strikes yet. walk fest at 9...

swamp snorkler 08-13-2013 01:46 PM

I was thinking he'd have a hard time picking it up since all the other kids have a year on him
