Hahahaha! I've never even touched a fiddle before. My old neighbor taught me La Porte d'en Arrière on only 3 keys. If you listen well you can make it out! I tried it the other day on a toy accordion at Craker Barrel. But I can play some KBON like its nobodies business!

It's not just the cajun side for me..........My dad's parents were part of the Hungarian settlement in Albany Louisiana. I grew up hearing cajun french and hungarian, never learned either.

Ironically, both sets of grandparents did not really want us to learn. They thought it would hold us back. It's just this last generation of society that sees the cajun heritage as cool. Many thought us very ignorant because of our accents and traditions, frankly many still do if you travel any at all.

I am proud of the new movements to teach. Especially the music.
My hungarian family all played the fiddle.
It was a big part of my music life. I played clarinet.......(yes light wieght) but that thing payed for two years of college before i stupidly quit and came home to "work"

Thats one thing I wish I knew how to speak,is the cajun french. That is a beautiful language. I used to love to hear my grandparents speaking it when I was little, even though I didnt understand anyting they were saying.
