No matter what the label is |
I had a 224 Black Jack. Because of the way the bow is made, I would consider it one of the best dual purpose boats out there. Also the old 23 Kenner's.
|
I would get at least a 22' whatever it is. We hit the short rigs as often as the wind allows in my 22' Champion, and even ran 35 miles out the weekend before Easter. That being said, we have got inside the jetties no less than 5 times last Summer when we thought we could go offshore, only to turn around due to the seas. But since we were in a "bay" boat we just hit the East shoreline of the lake and had a good time catching them inshore. Ranger, Skeeter, Blazer Bay, Champion, Shearwater, BlackJack, Haynie, Majek, El Pescador would all suffice.

I have been 40 to 50 miles out in my 21'6" key west bay reef several times it has a higher degree of dead rise at 19 degrees compared to 13 or 14 for most other brands of bay boats does well in the lake or offshore but like stated before I don't even try to go if the weather report don't say calm to 2 foot cuz it just ain't as fun anyways when u are fighting the waves the whole time your trying to fish.

I've been on a Blazer Bay, , A Champion, a Century, I've also been on one of these .......http://gulfcoastpowerboats.com/boat_...ea_flight.html
If I was in the market for a bayboat to do what you described I would look to get one of these. They Ride good, draft about a 1' or so and take some slop pretty well. They also dont make them anymore. |
There is one for sale on this site. It's blue. Triton sea flight
