He is just leasing the land and getting the royalties. Anyone with a good brain cell would do the same.
Seismic companies do the seismic work, sell the data to oil companies, oil companies hit up land owners for the rites. If they get them, they drill.
Mestretta doesn't go out and ask them to drill on his land. He doesn't pay them either.
They have to woo him to get on his land.
Being a land owner has it's good points.

Probably biggest land owner in MB. Specially with river land. Dude is a complete ***. His *** ways started back when my dad was a kid.
