Hey Todd,
I am on a Floater about 150 miles in the Gulf right now. I am here to tell you that is a nice mess of fish you have there. You know what people tell me in the winter time in Big Lake you Stay south of a line that runs from Commesary point to Texaco cut. I find this to be fairly true. That was a good mess of fish you caught in Vermillion Bay a while back. Don't you find that the fish in V Bay on average are some what bigger than Big Lake. It has been this way for a few years. They just happen to have more wader that really catch the big fish that go to Big Lake.
Gotta go
Merry Christmas

Hey man. Sorry your offshore for Christmas. Appreciate the input. VB fish do seem to average a little heavier than Big Lake on the fish that are below 5 pounds. But I do not here of the big fish that BL puts out in VB. Take care.

W, Thanks for the info. I knew I didn't have something right. What was surprising to me was when I got bit they hit it harder than I expected and had it deep in their mouth. I made the comment to my friend that the color must be right because of how deep they were taking it but obviously that is not necessarily the case. It's what I love about fishing- there is always something to figure out and it keeps you thinking. Appreciate it. EC

EC i was in the Black Nautic star in turners as well as "W" in the black Haynie . I was using the TFF mrs trout killer in geaux gleaux ( close to an lsu color) on 1/4 oz jighead. I had been using 1/8 but ran out of them . You was in the rite spot just you missed the color for the day . Just remember sunny and clear use bright colors ,cloudy or dark water dark colors. Oh and you still had a good catch ,plus it beats sittin at home wondering if they are biting.

Looks like a nice mess to me. Wish I was out there.

I've made a few trips recently but have only managed a few trout each time. However we have typically gone later in the morning. Is it necessary to be on the water fishing early?

When I wake up, first thing I do is piss. Second thing I do is eat.
In my opinion, Trout eat at first light also.
