Trust me it's a hard decision i had my chocalate lab cassie for 10 years and she hunted very hard and picked up many of ducks/geese for me. Well she caught cancer and there was nothing they could do for her. I had to make the decision to put her down, and it tore me up for a long time. When ypu have a dog that long they become a part of the family.
