Gordon charges $3 for ducks and $5 for geese if I remember correct. If he averages 200 birds per day for 60 days then that is sure big money. I just consider duck pickers another cost of hunting - just like leases, shells, fuel, dekes, etc. The money exchanged is put back into the economy to work.

During the 2000-2001 hunting season we took 1583 ducks to the duck cleaners. At that time Gordon was working with another guy south of town off of Elliott road I think -- the neighborhood with roads like Flounder, Speck, etc. We hunted west of Gum Cove on a school board section and had 4 jam up blinds. That was definately the best season of my life!

Think it was $2 back then. Still a lot of money. There were 4 blinds: Blind #1 killed 478, Blind #2 killed 364, Blind #3 kiled 316 and my blind killed 425. Each paid their own cleaning fees. If you look at it that way it was still a lot of money but split between several guys. Wish I has set up the lease as a corporation and taken advantage of tax write offs but did not know about that back in my younger years.

Awesome of you to do that Kenner! Gordan is a good dude. I bring my birds to him during the week when I have to get to work. I think he is at $6 or $7 a goose actually. Man I hate to hear his place burned.

Dropped off about 100lbs of wax to Gordon today. And they are working on the new building. Hopefully he will be on his feet soon.
