I pretty much do the same . But Im not afraid to use live when all else fails.

Live bait should be outlawed takes all the skill out of fishing, do you know if they did that how many people would sell there bay boats. People who fish bait are the ones that
leave you a 6 foot wake while asking you how are you doing, also the guy that pulls up to you after watching u catch a fish and throws a 700 lb. anchor toward you boat. Simply put live bait is for people who can not catch fish on plastics.

Hahah. Those are the best days. Just Chillin.

Live bait fisherman is the guy who watches you catch 5 trout on plastic and tolls wide open up wind and takes 10 times to set his anchor....and by this time the trout are in the Gulf....but he will smash some gaftop and sheep head and smile like he is a great white fisherman

PaulMyers 07-14-2011 06:16 PM

I am a live bait fisherman some days and I have done none of the things you "specknation" or you "W" speak of.

I also do not appreciate you both saying I do by lumping all live bait fishermen as that kind of person.

I did not mean to offend you, I am just calling like i see it I am sure there are some live bait guys who do not do that. Just every time that has happen to me the corks and hoes come flying toward my boat.

Agreed, my kids fish with me 80% of the time and we use live bait most of the time in the summer. You won't find me doing any of the things that are discussed on this site. We prefer to use artifical bait but live at least in the summer usually keeps my kids on the fish.

Regarding this topic, W and many others are much better fishermen than me, no doubt about it. I catch fish when I go and my kids have a good time, that is all that I am in this for. You guys can call me popping cork chicken or whatever you want to call me. As long as my kids and wife have a good time fishing on the boat I don't care what any of you on this site or on our lake think of my fishing skills.

Just saying...the higher percentage of live bait users are pilgrims....like that dummy on BL411 site.... He just sticks in my head because of how stupid he is and his lack of knowledge is unreal...

He has a Champion Boat....drives right up to the reef from north to south...right before he gets to his GPS dot he makes a half moon,,,but did not know he just ran over the whole reef....drops his trolling motor...trolls right at me and chunks his live shrimp....catches two trout...(Now I have 60 and was limited out 4 hours ago and on my way in) so I just pick up and leave!! He goes makes a post with 10 trout(3 in boat) and says... I showed a guide up because he gave me a mean look and saw me ripping trout in so he left!!!! Lmao.....this is a true idiot..... I called him out on that site and showed him what a dummy he was and he tried to lie and then I posted the pic of him in his boat.....then he said the guy he was talking about was not me.......idiot...every time I see a 22ft White Champion boat my veins stick out.....

And this is not about kids using live bait....all kids almost need to use it...or they will grow mean and grumpy like me....because my dad would not let me use live shrimp and I would watch the boats next to us catch 500 fish and I would catch 5 all day,,,,,,,

specknation 07-14-2011 06:43 PM

I have always look at live bait fisherman as being lazy, with proper teaching anybody can produce nice catches using artifical. To introduce kids to the sport live bait could help, but my comments were intended for adults also. With the advancements of plastics and hard baits wow you are missing out not using them. All i can say if you use live bait do yourself a favor and tie on a saltwater swimbait.

It was frowned upon at an early age to use live bait, especially in bass fishing.

As you can see in the corner of this bucket mouth.. 5 years old and still goin' strong

Yes I think that using plastics over live have more talent for your average fisherman, but when it comes to catching trophy trout, I think it is about equal. I think it takes some skill to fish live croakers for some big girls, just have to have that right feeling, waiting, let them run & know when to set the hook. I dont fish much with croakers so maybe its just me. The main thing I like about fishing is getting out there with your freinds and having a good time and making memories.

trophytroutman 07-14-2011 06:50 PM

No question about it!!!No talent in soaking live bait.

The next two months the trout fishing in my area slows big time on plastics, I simply chase reds in the duck ponds with spinner baits and spoons and let the live bait guys
have it until middle Sept.

"W" 07-14-2011 07:05 PM

Fool...who taught u how to catch trout on plastic???? Let em know
