Brown lures work good. I got a free sample of them one time. I got like 8 different colors and only 2 of them worked good. The rest didn't look good to me, or the fishes.

Rootbeer, pink, bronze/chart, plum/chart....my go to colors!

First 2 pics off rootbeer, the last off the bronze.

The ones I have had better luck with are Plumtreuse and Texas Gold Rush colors.
I had terrible luck with the bronze colored lures.

Sounds to me like you need to stick to what you do best. If they were as thick as you say, you should have been able to foul hook a bunch of 'em. I've caught tons of trout in Breton Sound on Bombers. If you can catch 'em in 10' of water....Big Lake should be a piece of cake. Your "podnuh" won't beat me like that. :shaking:
