I love my tundra but i just got mine out of the shop for a stuck air injection valve(emissions), supposedly a common power, but i love the 380 hp with 18 mpg avg!!

*common problem not power, and i have 80000 miles.

New eco boost would be nice!!

fishaholic82 05-10-2011 04:42 PM

I like everything about the new Tundras except the way the front end looks, but I think the ride and power make up for it. Needless to say its gonna be a hard choice. But it dam sure won't be a Chevy!

I got a 07 1500 Z71 with 100,000 miles and it's NEVER been in the shop...

As MossLake has mentioned this is a thread on diesel trucks.

If you do not own or have owned a diesel truck then............

Moss I own a D-Max/auto/4X4. For me I like my truck. Are there things about my truck I would like to change, you bet. Hey, there is no perfect in every aspect of truck made.
It boils down to your preference in brand. Every brand will have issues of some magnitude during ownership. You will talk and hear from the different brand owners about their truck issues. All things regarding ownership of diesel trucks are different. Every owner drives and maintains their trucks differently, therefore, the brand of truck issues will vary. In the end it is your money purchase the brand of diesel truck you would like.

Look up Dodge in the dictionary and see what it says!

To Avoid!

I averaged 21mpg in my 250 on the way to Big Lake the other day. Hands down the best vehicle I have ever owned. My brother in law just bought a new BMW and I think the 250 is a much nicer vehicle...

Not sure on the mechanical aspects but, structurally, they are all neck and neck. I've worked on many of the above mentioned in the collision aspect and they are all built the same way...CHEAP! The repairs are higher than heck on them all, especially if you get into the rear of them. Ford and GM both use a multi-piece rear bumper that is literally rivetted together! The cheapest repair I've done on a GM or Ford when it comes to low speed impacts(i.e. backing into something at less than 5 mph) has been $2800! Personally, I love it! Owners hate it!

shellman 05-10-2011 05:36 PM

I would go Ford for diesel and Tundra for gas ....

My silverado has 96,000 on it and I've got an 07 Tahoe with 65,000 on it and they both go into the shop enough to know the service techs on a first name basis. As soon as the warranties are up on these vehicles they're getting traded quick!

flounder_smacker 05-10-2011 06:21 PM

every truck i owned has been a chevy. i put a lot of mileage on my vehicle's "56k last year" and next year when i buy a truck its going to be a f150 with the ecobost. friend just got one in the fx4 and its a beast. 23 on the hwy and a real good ride. the older chevys used to be bullet proof but this new model has given nothing but problems. mostly the 4wd system and a bunch of electronic crap. plus obama is in gm now so im making the switch and want to stay american.

I currently own both Micah and the BMW is far nicer and more expensive, nothing wrong with the f250 but you can not compare the "niceness" of an f250 to a 550i. I will take you for a ride in both and you will see. I will say this, your f250 is the nicest truck I have ridden in, I have one just like it only two years older.

jlincecum 05-10-2011 06:50 PM

between Ford and Dodge diesels, I would go with Ford on the new models definitly. Ford is a lot nicer on the interior and I'm not a fan of the new motor in the dodges. loved my Dmax when I had it but my next truck will probably be a new super duty

I have a 08 that had a new transmission at 80,000 miles and it has more eletrical problems then you can count. I got it brand new and it has been in the shop 17 times. Check engine light has been on pretty much since 30,000 miles and I now have 108,000 miles and the light is still just as bright as it was the first time I saw it!!!

trophytroutman 05-10-2011 07:07 PM

Guess who wants to borrow my truck all the time to go to home depot, buy mulch, haul tools, etc…My nephew even tells my b-in-law he has a girl car :p
and it ain't no high dollar 5 series! And yes, the 250 is nicer than a 3 series!!!
And no, I will not go out on a date with you in your car :work:
